"The Mayor should be ashamed of himself." Malliotakis Blasts Mayor for Migrant Shelter At Assisted Living Facility After Seniors Kicked Out "The Mayor should be ashamed of himself." (WASHINGTON, DC) - Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11) yesterday blasted New York City Mayor Eric Adams for cutting a shady, lucrative deal with Homes for the Homeless to place migrants in a former assisted living facility that was previously occupied by seniors until March 2023 when they were forced to leave. The facility is expected to house up to 300 migrants. "Senior citizens who've paid taxes their whole lives and built our community were kicked out of their homes and the facility’s operators turn around and cut a shady deal with Mayor Adams to put migrants there. The Mayor should be ashamed of himself for doing that," Malliotakis said. "The City keeps taking away from taxpaying citizens and giving it to those who are crossing into our country illegally. He did it with a school - we were supposed to add 1,000 seats to a new school and instead he turned that into a migrant shelter. He's taking hotels - we can't even have tourism in our city anymore because hotels are going to illegal immigrants as well. Now, we're suing to try and stop our federal parkland from being taken over for migrant encampments...It is insane and it could be stopped today if we had the political will from the President to undo his executive orders and Schumer to pass our border security legislation."
