Last week, Virginia’s General Assembly passed the budget bill for the year – completely scrapping the GOP’s planned $1 billion in tax cuts for ultra-wealthy individuals and big corporations.
What stopped the GOP? A Democratic-controlled Virginia Senate.
Instead, Democrats in the General Assembly fought to spend that money on public education, teacher and state employee raises, and mental health services throughout the Commonwealth.
