Dear Neighbors,
This past week I was busy attending events around our district. I attended the Sip and Spell at the Croatian Hall, raising money for Neighbors, Inc. which provides emergency assistance and essential service programs to low-income community members in our area. I also visited the Robert Brown III Car and Motorcycle show and the St. Patrick?s Fall Festival.
After last week?s Northwest Bonding tour I am back on the road, this time with the Legislative-Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources (LCCMR). We are out visiting sites that have received funding from the Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund (ENRTF).
This unique source of funding provides for so many critical habitat and environmental projects throughout this state, including the Fond du Lac Band?s plan to return elk to northern MN, the Mesabi Trail which helps cyclists, hikers and skiers get from Grand Marais to Ely, and a visit to the nonprofit Veterans on the Lake, which does fantastic work helping make outdoor recreation more accessible.?Yesterday we visited the International Wolf Center in Stacy, Minnesota to learn about their education and conservation efforts.
Do you know you a high school junior interested in politics, government, or the Minnesota Legislature? I would encourage them to apply to the 2024 House High School Page Program!? More information about the program can be found here: https://buff.ly/44Vq1Vw? The deadline to apply is November 22.
Please continue to share your questions, ideas, and feedback throughout the legislative session. You can reach me by email at?[email protected]?or by phone at 651-296-6828. You can contact my Legislative Assistant Sam O'Neill at 651-296-3305 or via email at?[email protected].?
Sincerely,
Rick Hansen State Representative
