Dear Friend, |
It’s hard to believe it’s been almost four years since I made my first monthly gift to Earthjustice. |
I had just seen a billboard on a trip to San Francisco. It featured a confident attorney with her arms crossed, smiling over big block letters: Because the Earth needs a good lawyer. |
When I got home, I opened my laptop and pored over videos of Earthjustice lawyers taking on fossil fuel companies and powerful government entities — groups I had been told were unstoppable. But incredibly, Earthjustice was winning. I started a monthly gift that night. Nearly one year later, I accepted a position managing Earthjustice’s monthly giving program. |
I cannot express enough how amazing it is to be part of this work. And at the same time, working for a cause I care about so deeply leads to a unique kind of stress — which is what I’m experiencing as our Climate Week Campaign kicks off. The climate crisis is escalating before our eyes. And we’re counting on 300 new monthly donors to raise the funding we need for this work and to unlock a $30,000 gift from an anonymous donor. The truth is, that's a really ambitious goal for our program. |
Friend, will you be one of the 300 monthly donors we need to reach our goal and unlock this $30,000 challenge grant for Climate Week? |
|
Now that I work at Earthjustice, I see how essential our team of 200 lawyers is in the fight to stop climate change. We are the legal power behind the environmental movement, and we can fight fossil fuel companies and win time and time again, keeping billions of barrels of oil in the ground and saving millions of acres from new oil and gas drilling. |
|
I wasn't able to dig up a photo of the billboard, but I think this graphic of Earthjustice President Abigail Dillen captures what drew me to this work. |
|
We must continue to band together and take action. Science says again and again — it’s not too late to avoid the worst impacts of the climate crisis. But we must act now. |
Signing up for a monthly commitment is one of the best ways to make a real impact in this fight. You can sign up for less than the cost of a Netflix subscription, and you will contribute month after month to the big, structural changes essential to shifting the tides on climate change. |
You can be part of the fight to stop the Willow Project and the Alaska LNG project, staggeringly massive oil and gas ventures in sensitive Alaska habitat. You can help stop oil and gas leasing on public lands, which account for nearly 25% of the nation’s total carbon emissions. And you can join the movement to electrify everything — from school buses to postal trucks — clearing the way for a fossil-free future. |
Together, we must fight like our future depends on it. Because it does. And if everyone who can pitches in, I know we’ll be able to do it. |
Friend, we only have a few days left to reach our ambitious goal of 300 new monthly donors to unlock $30,000 for Earthjustice. Will you double down in support of our work and make a commitment today? |

We all know that the Earth needs a good lawyer. Let’s make sure it has one. |
