Dear John!
EuroPride 2023 in Malta was a colourful gathering of the queer community and their allies! The Pride march on Saturday was embedded in many political events, including a roundtable about gender-based violence and sexual reproductive health with our co-chair Mélanie Vogel. Here are some impressions from the events:

European Elections Concerns over von der Leyen's possible candidacy
|
State of the Union
The topics she didn't talk about
- In her State of the European Union address last week, Ursula von der Leyen noticeably avoided discussion on far-right threats and discrepancies in her Green Deal promises.
- European Greens co-chairs, Mélanie Vogel and Thomas Waitz, raise concerns regarding the alliances formed within the European People's Party (EPP) with far-right groups and criticise von der Leyen's omission of critical aspects of the Green Deal, calling for a clearer stance against corporate exploitation and for stringent climate policies.

Migration
Dirty deals with autocrats are leading to serious human rights violations
-
The current crisis in Lampedusa marks a dark chapter in EU's migration policy, with devastating consequences, including the loss of a young life. We vehemently condemn such inhumane policies and the collaboration with autocratic regimes that foster them.
-
We must do everything in our power to prevent tragedies in the Mediterranean. And solidarity should be the foundation of our response. What we really need is: Safe and legal avenues for asylum seekers to reach the EU, increased search and rescue operations at sea, an update on the Dublin regulation and a fair responsibility sharing amongst EU countries.

Summer survey
Thanks for giving us feedback! Here are some results:
- Today, we want to share some of the outcomes of our recent summer survey. A significant number of you took the time to share your thoughts on our newsletter, and we're happy that most of you rated us with 4 or 5 stars out of 5. The main reason to read the newsletter are EGP updates, and there is a growing curiosity for election campaign updates. Also, the frequency of the newsletter seems to sit well with most of you.
- But we also acknowledge the constructive criticism that you shared with us. Your call for greater engagement opportunities, deeper analysis, and more concise news summaries have not fallen on deaf ears. We are working on implementing your feedback!
- As there seems to be a big appetite to get involved with us, we once again invite you to join our 2024 Election Campaign Volunteer list. Sign up today and let’s campaign together!
