Good evening, everyone!
Some big campaign news today: Juan Pablo rolled out a new policy plan that will lower commuter costs in the district.
The plan, called the Commitment to Commuters, includes the following elements:
* The signers promise that they will work together to fund a new program that will refund 50% of costs on local tolls paid by Virginia based commuters.
* A commuter would have to use the Dulles Toll Road, Dulles Greenway, or I-66 Fast Lanes more than 30 times a month (equivalent to 15 days of commuting) to be eligible for the program.
* Refunds would be drawn solely from future expected tax surpluses, and the program would be legislatively authorized for a one-year pilot.
* No new taxes or existing tax increases would be imposed on Virginia residents.
The plan has also received support from area candidates and elected officials, including:
Geary Higgins, candidate for House District 30
Debbie Rose, Algonkian District candidate for Loudoun County Board of Supervisors
Caleb Kershner, Catoctin District Supervisor, Loudoun County Board of Supervisors
Chris Harnisch, candidate for House District 27
Ram Venkatachalam, Little River candidate for Loudoun County Board of Supervisors
Mark Rogers, candidate for House District 29

And if you agree with Juan Pablo that lowering commuter costs is critically important, please make sure you vote early starting this Friday the 22nd!
