Hearing with Tim Ballard from Sound of Freedom

Last week, I participated in a Committee on Homeland Security hearing in D.C. featuring Tim Ballard, whose story is depicted in the movie Sound of Freedom. Human trafficking is real and statistics show us the average age of exploitation is 11-12 years. The Biden Administration is failing Americans. Click here to watch the hearing.

Truck Driver Appreciate Week

Last week was National Truck Driver Appreciation Week. I am thankful for all the hard work our truck drivers do to keep our country stocked from one end to the other. The American Trucking Association Interstate One Truck stopped by Capitol Hill and I had a great visit. If you see a truck driver, be sure to say thank you.

Raytheon Groundbreaking

Last week, I participated in a groundbreaking at Raytheon in Forest. Raytheon is a key part of the economy of Scott County and our state. I’m proud of the work Mississippians do daily for the security of our country, and I am proud to support Raytheon’s important efforts through my work in Congress as a member of the House Appropriations Committee. Seeing the next phase of growth for this facility reinforces the importance of these ongoing initiatives. America was founded on the freedom to live life and invest in the communities around us, and I am thankful for the freedom we have here in this country to grow and expand and see the new opportunities that improve our lives.

Advancing Conservative Policies

This past week, I voted to advance several conservative policies. The Republican-controlled House voted to protect consumers against Biden’s radical climate agenda. Mississippians shouldn’t be limited to buying only electric cars and trucks, and House Republicans took action to protect vehicle choices for the American people. I also cosponsored the Freedom to Breathe Act. This bill would ensure that you have the freedom to choose whether to wear a mask by banning federal mandates. Let’s leave mask mandates in the past and give people the freedom to choose. I also am working to protect your second amendment rights. The Second Amendment guarantees Americans the right to bear arms. The governor of New Mexico has infringed on that right with her executive order suspending concealed and open carry laws in that state. This is a direct violation of the United States Constitution. The House is voting this week to condemn her executive order and I'll be standing up for the Constitution with my yes vote.

Highlighting Veterans with POW/MIA Day and Veteran Members of my Staff

I’m proud to display the POW/MIA flag outside of my office as a daily reminder of the great sacrifice of those who were prisoners of war or have gone missing in action. God bless these heroes. I’m very proud to have Veterans on my staff. General Harold Cross and Major Larry Wert recently received Vietnam Veteran pins to help honor their service. These pins are available to anyone who served November 1, 1955 - May 15, 1975. If you or anyone you know qualifies for a pin, or otherwise needs assistance with a VA issue, please contact my office at (202) 225-5031.
