Bipartisan efforts to fix Congress are working

John,

Imagine a world where Congress actually functioned. It may sound incredible, but there is a bipartisan group of lawmakers — the Select Committee on the Modernization of Congress — that is working right now to fix the legislative branch and put Congress back to work.

But they can’t do it without support from their colleagues to get their important recommendations to fix Congress adopted.

The American people need a Congress that acts now more than ever. The new bipartisan Select Committee is taking a first-hand approach to developing substantive changes to improve the legislative branch.

Thank you for your support!

Tell members of Congress:

“The Select Committee on the Modernization of Congress has the best opportunity in decades to help elected leaders better serve their constituents. The members of this committee need your help and support to get their recommendations to fix Congress adopted.”

John,

Though you might not have read about it in the news, a group of 12 lawmakers — split evenly between Republicans and Democrats — have been energetically working together to fix our dysfunctional Congress. These lawmakers are part of the Select Committee on the Modernization of Congress, created in January to come up with much-needed recommendations to update and repair the outdated legislative branch.

Last week, the select committee unanimously approved its second series of reforms composed of 24 recommendations, a strong package that would have a significant impact on how members of Congress can better serve their constituents.

The committee continues to build momentum, but there is more work to be done — and time is quickly running out for their work to be completed.

Sign the petition today to tell members of Congress to support the bipartisan efforts of the select committee to seize the moment to develop real change.

The package of reforms would:

  1. Modernize and revitalize House technology

  2. Make the House accessible to all Americans

  3. Streamline and reorganize House human resources

  4. Overhaul the onboarding process and provide continuing education for members

Congress currently doesn’t have the tools to effectively do its job — and it’s everyday Americans that suffer because of it. These recommendations would help right the ship, and put Congress back to work.

We are in a tough fight. Without a functioning Congress, our elected leaders can’t address critical issues like health care, the budget, and our national security.

Join Issue One to call on our elected leaders to make Congress an effective body where the people’s will is done.

Let’s win this fight together!
