In the last 30 years, the federal government has shut down five times. And all five occurred when Republicans had control of the House.

And now, extremist Republicans are prepared to shut down our government *AGAIN* to try to force Democrats and President Biden to accept an extreme right-wing agenda that would hurt working families across Colorado and our nation.

The government will shut down on October 1st if they have their way, so we have to fight back.

Here’s the situation: the far-right sees this as an opportunity to slash some of the most vital programs that support Colorado families.

The cuts Republicans are proposing?

– They want to slash 4,000 FBI personnel, putting your safety at risk.
– They want to cut access to childcare, a move that would affect 65,000 children.
– They want to slash education funding – affecting thousands of teachers and students – especially in areas with low-income students and students with disabilities.

And those are just a few on a very long list.

There’s no doubt about it: the far-right wants to cut funding for critically important programs that hard-working Coloradans rely on – all while giving more handouts to special interests and the ultra-wealthy.

Make no mistake – I’ll always work to find a bipartisan deal whenever I can, but I’ll never accept harming the wellbeing of the regular families whose needs so often go overlooked in Washington.
