John,
Let's give darkness its due. Sure, we love long days and
sunshine. But Earth's biorhythms and ours need darkness
[link removed]
-in particular, dark skies. As we march toward the autumn
equinox, changing leaves, and pumpkin spice everything, we celebrate
how nature's cycles and miracles contribute to our quality of
life.
-Alana Fink, Trust for Public Land
PS: Autumn is here! Tell us where you seek out fall's changing
leaves.

Keeping the Dark Skies Dark
[link removed]
In the shadow of the growing metropolis of Tucson, Saguaro National
Park attracts more than a million visitors each year who come to savor
the desert wilderness and 165 miles of trails. But skyglow-from
all those urban lights-is threatening the night sky, dimming the
dazzling skein of stars that stretches overhead. Through a series of
acquisitions, Trust for Public Land is protecting sensitive lands
while preserving the celestial landscape.

Preserve Black Wall Street as a National Monument
[link removed]
The massacre in the historic Greenwood District of Tulsa, Oklahoma, in
1921 is overlooked in our country's history, even though it spurred
long-lasting effects on generations of Black residents of Oklahoma and
beyond. It is well past time that Black Wall Street becomes recognized
as a symbol of Black excellence and enterprise; urge President Biden
to preserve it as a national monument today!
