Paid for by Nikki Budzinski for Congress

Content warning: This email mentions suicide.

Hi team — We wanted to take a moment to make sure you saw Nikki’s message last week about her work to pass the Trauma Support and Mental Health in Schools Reauthorization Act.

This bipartisan legislation will improve access to evidence-based trauma support and mental health care services for students across our country. In honor of Suicide Prevention Month, it’s crucial that we get this legislation across the finish line to ensure we can address the multitude of mental health struggles people across our country face.

We need to show Nikki’s colleagues in Congress that she has a groundswell of support from our grassroots movement, so we need everyone with her in this fight to sign on without delay.

Please take a look at Nikki’s message below and then add your name to her petition to show your support for passing the Trauma Support and Mental Health in Schools Reauthorization Act >>

Subject: Seeking help can be difficult

Friend,

Every September, we recognize Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, as suicide is the tenth leading cause of death in the United States and the second leading cause of death among young adults between the ages of 10 and 34.

For those living with mental illness, seeking help can still be incredibly difficult given the barriers and stigma associated with mental health, which can often be even more challenging for young adults.

That’s why earlier this year, I was proud to co-introduce the Trauma Support and Mental Health in Schools Reauthorization Act — bipartisan legislation to improve access to evidence-based trauma support and mental health care services for students across our country.

I understand the mental health struggles communities across our district and country are facing, and that’s why I’m working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to raise awareness and pass common-sense legislation to help address the stigma that prevents young adults from seeking help.

By passing this legislation, we will increase awareness of mental health issues among students, train school personnel to detect and respond to mental health issues and connect students to the critical services they need.

Friend, please support my efforts to pass this life-changing bipartisan legislation by signing my petition to call on Congress to pass the Trauma Support and Mental Health in Schools Reauthorization Act and address this public health crisis.

Thank you for all you do. Together, we can fight to ensure our communities have the resources to address and break down the stigma associated with mental illness.

— Nikki
