A completely avoidable shutdown is on the horizon, thanks to the House GOP refusing to compromise unless their spending bills are approved – bills that go after critical programs.

These cuts will result in the loss of over seven million jobs, strip millions of their access to Medicare, slash essential funds to public education, and deny food to our children. All for spending cuts that will add a whopping $3 trillion to our national debt.

* 5.3 million Americans who depend on food assistance will see funds for Food and Nutrition for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) – CUT 

* Funds to federal law enforcement (including $415 million from the FBI) – CUT 

* Funds to the Environmental Protection Agency and Clean Water and Drinking Projects ($1.9 billion) – CUT


John, when I set out to run for Congress, my intention was to help Americans everywhere, not hurt them. These spending cuts, and potential government shutdown, will do nothing but hurt Americans.
