Yesterday was National Voter Registration Day, and I was invited to speak with Ursinus students about the importance of civic engagement and registering to vote. We talked about the history of voting in Pennsylvania and how as a country, we are still trying to live up to the embodiment of the right to vote for every citizen. The struggle to vote
has been difficult, and often violent and unjust for women, people of color, the LGBTQ+ community, and individuals with disabilities but we’re still working at it. We’ve made gains and seen some losses but as a Pennsylvanian, living some 20 miles from the birthplace of democracy, I believe we will get there, and ensure every citizen holds the inalienable right to vote.
In case you haven’t registered yet to vote in the upcoming Municipal Election this November, you have until Oct. 23, 2023. College students have the option to register and vote where you live while attending college in PA or register and vote at your prior home address, provided your family or guardian still resides there. The last day to request a mail-in or absentee ballot is Oct. 31, 2023. Election day is Tuesday, Nov. 7, and polls will be open from 7 a.m. – 8 p.m.
This election includes School Board Directors, Township Supervisors / Commissioners or Borough Council Seats, Township Auditors, State Supreme Court Justices, and Pennsylvania Superior Court Judges. If you have any questions about voting in PA, visit vote.pa.gov.

Today, I wore blue for #BeeKindElla, honoring Ella Smith and helped to spread kindness throughout the community! I encourage you all to Bee Kind and do something kind for someone else, no matter how small of a gesture.
