John, We are in the midst of a massive affordability crisis.
Total debt for US households just passed $17 trillion—the highest it’s ever been. That includes $1.6 trillion in student loans; $1 trillion in credit card debt, with interest rates topping at 25%; and $195 billion in medical debt.
Household debt is preventing everyday folks from living a good life. It makes investing in the future—buying a home, raising a family, saving for retirement—feel out of reach for so many. That’s why we need bold action. We need Congress to cancel student debt up to $50,000 for working and middle-class Americans, eliminate medical debt, and cap credit card interest rates before we crater the economy. Sign the petition: Congress must tackle the affordability crisis. |
