Read SFTR's Strategic Plan for 2023 - 2025!

From Vinita Goyal, SFTR's Executive Director:

We are at the cusp of two years of my tenure at San Francisco Transit Riders and throughout that time our staff and board have been occupied with the big fights and the everyday pursuits to further our mission. Almost organically, that work and our agency have also evolved into our Strategic Plan that will remain our north campus through 2025 and that I am excited to share with you in the midst of our ongoing transit month celebration.

We don't want Transit Month to end!

There's no slowing down this Transit Month! Transit Month 2023 is a celebration of the role of public transportation in our communities and the Bay Area’s economic, social, and cultural vibrancy. We are celebrating with events, prizes, awards, and more. Several Transit Month events organized by our partners this year are being made possible through subgrants from San Francisco Transit Riders and Seamless Bay Area.

We need your support! SFTR is in need of volunteers for the last couple weeks of Transit Month. If you are willing and available, please click the link below and fill out the form. If you have any questions, feel free to email us.

The festivities kick off at 1890 Bryant Street Studios, whose location next to Muni’s Potrero Bus Yard inspires transit-themed art. From drawings of Muni operators, to paintings that examine the waste and ecological threat of automobile traffic, to wearable scarves patterned with vibrant photographs of Market Street’s vintage streetcars, artists explore their different relationships to this vital part of living in the Bay Area.

Nominate a Transit Hero for the Rider First Awards

Do you have an amazing bus driver, train operator, or station attendant who makes your rides better? Is there a person that speaks up effectively for transit and helps other riders? Or maybe you’ve seen improvements on your trips such as new transit lanes, boarding areas, better signage, or clear communication.

We are soliciting your recommendations for our 6th Annual Rider First Awards, where we will honor the people (and projects) that move transit in the Bay Area ahead. The deadline to nominate people or improvements is Sunday, September 24th @ 11:59pm.
