Hey, there! It’s Devon, and if we haven’t met yet, I am the Director of the New Power Project initiative here at New Politics.
We’ve got more New Power Project Advisory Council members to meet! These folks provide the knowledge and expertise we need to make sure our programs serve the interests of the values-driven individuals we support from marginalized or underserved communities. When you support our programs, these are the folks you’re getting behind!
Juana Matias previously served as the State Representative for the 16th Essex District in Massachusetts, becoming one of the first Latina immigrant women elected to the State House. During her time as a State Representative, Juana launched a congressional race and became the first Latina to run for Congress in Massachusetts.
After graduating from the University of Massachusetts Boston and Suffolk University Law School, Juana dedicated years of her career to public service by enlisting in AmeriCorps as a Justice AmeriCorps Legal Advocate. Prior to her service with AmeriCorps, Juana served as a social worker, where she assisted families and children suffering from abuse and neglect.
Juana believes we need to continue to elect servant leaders who represent people over politics, and country over party, and we’re happy to have her on board as an advisor.

After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania and completing a certificate in education finance from Georgetown University, Eboni-Rose brings her passion for equity and community building to every aspect of her work and service.
Eboni-Rose Thompson is a seasoned advocate for excellence in public education and creating a brighter future for all.
Andre D. Carroll is a product of Philadelphia, PA. In 2015, Andre joined and completed cohort 4 of Year-Up Philadelphia and just one year after graduating, he became the Alumni Board Chair. Andre credits Year-Up for the professional opportunity they provided him and the foundation he was able to build on.
From volunteer roles to advising winning campaigns, Andre has dedicated his life to public service and has spent the last four years working on campaigns and as a staffer to an elected official.
When asked to share his “why” for joining the New Power Project Advisory Council, Andre has this to say: “Growing up, I always searched for mentors to help groom me and develop my transferable skills. I’m excited about the resources The New Power Project will offer to other young people that are experiencing similar challenges as myself. To build strong communities, we must first invest in our youth.”
We are thrilled to have Andre on our Advisory Council!
There’s a lot of power among this group of Advisory Council members! We are honored to have them on board at the New Power Project. Click here to learn more [[link removed]] about the New Power Project and how you can get involved.
Best,

New Politics supports outstanding military veterans and national service leaders, alumni of programs like AmeriCorps and the Peace Corps, to step up and serve our country again, this time through politics. We were proud to be behind the movement of veterans who ran for office for the first time in 2018, and we have big plans to grow into the future.
