Hey there — we're asking you to make a $5 donation today to support Elissa Slotkin’s campaign for Senate in Michigan.

Sometimes people ask us why we ask for the equivalent of a cup of fancy coffee. They question whether small donations actually matter. They do. It takes a village to get this done, and it’s so important that we maintain a steady pace of support.

Earlier this month, we had our first serious Republican opponent enter the race. Mike Rogers, or whomever the Republican nominee is, will no doubt see a flood of support from deep-pocketed Republican donors like Betsy DeVos, corporate PACs, and Super PACs who will all spend millions of dollars on their behalf in order to flip Michigan red. Because they know that their path to control the Senate runs right through Michigan.

With public polling showing our race in a dead heat, we have to be prepared to match our Republican opponent dollar-for-dollar so we can defend this open seat and protect our slim Democratic Senate majority.

We know that $5 may not sound like a lot on its own, but trust us, we wouldn’t keep asking if it didn’t add up when there are hundreds of people chipping in and showing their support. It’s how we’ve won our past campaigns and it’s how we plan to keep up the momentum to win this race too.
