California sues Big Oil in landmark lawsuit

California has filed a lawsuit in the state Superior Court in San Francisco against several of the world's largest oil multinationals for deceitful practices. The civil suit claims that these companies, including BP, Chevron, ConocoPhillips, Exxon Mobil, and Shell, have misled the public about the risks of fossil fuels.

This bill would improve food security for millions of Americans by increasing SNAP benefits by roughly 30% and amending the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 to require that supplemental nutrition assistance program benefits be calculated using the value of the low-cost food plan.

House makes little progress to avoid government shutdown

The House has decided to postpone the vote on the short-term funding measure as Republican leadership and far-right representatives wrestle with changes to the legislation. The U.S. national debt reached $33 trillion on Monday — a milestone reported by the Treasury Department as the possibility of a shutdown becomes increasingly more likely.
