Hi John.
Many often don’t think about infrastructure until something goes wrong. But as soon as there’s a broken water pipe or lost internet access, we realize how important it is.
Building modern infrastructure means building an economy that works for everyone. I’m proud to serve you on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. And thankfully, this is an area where Republicans and Democrats have found common ground.
So today, here’s an update on how we’re continuing to rebuild infrastructure in the Kansas Third District >>
Modernizing U.S. 69
Modernizing U.S. 69 has been a priority for Johnson County for decades. And now, the bipartisan infrastructure law I helped pass is finally helping to get this project off the ground.
I was happy to get a firsthand update on the progress we’re making in my latest Sharice’s Shift. Click here to learn more about it.

I was honored to work with Republicans and Democrats to pass the bipartisan infrastructure law. That included meetings with senior White House officials to ensure Kansas priorities were always top of mind.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce says the law is fiscally responsible. And now, we’re seeing the results.
For instance, new federal resources let KDOT accelerate upgrades at the U.S. 69 / 167th St Interchange. This interchange is projected to see a 450% increase in vehicles by 2050. These upgrades will mean less traffic and a clearer path for emergency vehicles.
In my recent Sharice’s Shift, I was glad to shadow a Storm Drainage crew and help lay 60” concrete pipes.
Clean Drinking Water
From the water in our tap to the rain in our gutters, water infrastructure also touches many parts of our lives.
That’s why I’m pushing to upgrade our region’s water infrastructure. That includes modernizing Olathe’s water pumping stations to ensure access to clean drinking water.
I was glad to check in with officials in Olathe at the Renner Pump Station recently.
Unfortunately, the Renner Pump Station’s generator doesn’t meet the expected safety needs for all of Olathe. Making upgrades now will help ensure continued access to clean drinking water for everyone.
That’s why I’m working with local officials to secure federal resources to replace the 35-year-old generator.
I’m pleased to share our community project request was approved by the U.S. House Appropriations Committee. I’m going to keep pushing to bring this investment to our community.

Modern Aviation in Kansas
Our economy also relies heavily on reliable air travel. That’s why I recently checked in with folks at the New Century AirCenter in Gardner to learn more about our community’s aviation infrastructure needs.
Please click here to learn more about it in the Gardner News.
I was glad to listen to folks at the New Century AirCenter earlier this month.
While at New Century, I had a chance to get a firsthand look at their 81-year-old air traffic control center.
Local officials are prioritizing its replacement, and a new tower may be eligible for bipartisan infrastructure law investments.
During my visit, I had the opportunity to see their 81-year-old air traffic control tower up close.
We also discussed the need to reauthorize the Federal Aviation Administration, or the FAA. On the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, I’m working with both Republicans and Democrats to reauthorize this agency.
In fact, earlier this year, I voted for a bipartisan bill to reauthorize the FAA. It would improve airline customer protections and accessibility, increase aviation safety standards, and strengthen U.S. aviation workforce and manufacturing.
I’m continuing to work towards a final bipartisan compromise that we can pass into law.
It’s an honor to serve you in the U.S. House of Representatives. If you have any questions or would like to share your views, please contact me.
My warmest regards,
Sharice L. Davids Member of Congress
