** Climate Change and the Environment
------------------------------------------------------------

From our 2022 Platform ([link removed]) — It is essential we join other communities, towns, and counties and take action locally to do our part to eliminate our man-made contributions to global warming and thereby climate change.

Luther Propst Welcomes the Crowd
Every summer, a stream of politicians visits Jackson Hole, hoping to raise money for their campaign. Until the day when (hope springs eternal) there is Campaign Finance Reform, this is an unfortunate but necessary part of serving in our government. At our request, the group of Environmental Champions who came to town last month for a fundraiser, also set aside time for a meet and greet with local Dems. The proceeds from the $25 suggested donation event (totaling over $1000) went to the Teton Dems.

While we will be working to elect environmental stewards at the town, county and statewide levels in 2024, it is crucial to engage with and support those who are working at the Federal level, as well. Approximately 35 people gathered at Molesworth Cabin (and shout out to Christine Watkins for securing and underwriting the venue) to listen to US Senator Martin Heinrich (NM) and US Representatives Betty McCollum (MN-04), Susie Lee (NV -03), and Gabe Vasquez (NM-02) discuss their policies and strategies for protecting the environment and dealing with climate change.

Environmental Champions Betty McCollum (MN-04), Susie Lee (NV -03), Martin Heinrich (New Mexico) and Gabe Vasquez (NM-02).

Think Global and Act Local

Meanwhile, you can Join the Rally for Clean Water ([link removed]) TOMORROW -- Thursday, September 21-- at the Center for the Arts sponsored by Protect Our Water Jackson Hole ([link removed]) . Learn about climate issues affect water issues, existing water quality problems across Teton County, and celebrate the power of community to make a difference. This free event will include family friendly activities and a keynote address by Keynote Presentation by Erica Gies, Author of Water Always Wins: Thriving in the Age of Drought & Deluge.
Your Input Needed for Healthy Teton County Survey
Take a few minutes to complete the HTC 2024 Community Health Needs Assessment Survey available here ([link removed]) in English and in Spanish. Your responses are completely anonymous.

Healthy Teton County (HTC) is a partnership between St. John's Health, the Teton County Health Department, and Voices JH to complete a community health needs assessment for Teton County.

The information gathered from this community survey will be one source of information to help determine the top health issues in our community. The fourth community health needs assessment will be published in the Spring of 2024.

** Upcoming Events and Volunteers Needed
------------------------------------------------------------
Hurray for
Orion Bellorado who has graciously agreed to step into the role of Vice Chairman, replacing Ryan Sedgeley who relocated to Colorado.

Speaking of Orion, our October meeting will be at Farmstead Cider on Tuesday, October 17 at 6 pm. We will be focusing on clean water issues in our county. Stay tuned for more details.

We are looking for an Events Chair to help organize the many ideas we have for getting together including the return of Trivia Night and joint activities with other organizations including ShelterJH and JHPride. Pleaseemail us (mailto:[email protected]) if you are interested in this position or in helping in some other capacity.
