Dear John,
We've all had one of those days. A day where things don't seem to go quite, or a day where everything that happens, as aggravating as it might be, seems designed to remind us of something we already know. Recently, I had one of those days and it made it clear why we need better representation in Washington than Scott Perry.

Recent news regarding Scott Perry and his role in Trump’s post-election insurrectionist circus has come as no surprise to his constituents in PA-10. Perry’s self-serving politics, punctuated by tantrum-like outbursts when anyone dares to call him out, have been his hallmark throughout his career.
In the wake of the 2020 election, Perry took it to a new level when he teamed up with Jim Jordan in an attempt to bully and terrorize Pennsylvania voters into giving up their voice to serve his own agenda. But through those actions, Perry showed voters in PA-10, and across the country, who he really is and who he has always been.
Either by the courts, the voters, or both, Scott Perry must be held accountable for his role in trying to overturn the election, but we need to remember that there is so much more for which he needs to answer. Scott Perry’s policies and agenda make life harder for regular people across the country, including those he was elected to represent in PA-10.
Like the rest of Perry’s constituents, I have to earn a living to support my family. I’m also a parent, who worries about my daughter’s future, and her safety and security here and now. Scott Perry does nothing to make life better or easier for the rest of us, and in many cases he makes life harder.
Recently, Perry’s abject failure to meet his obligations to all of us was driven home for me when, before heading off to a day of continuing legal education classes (CLEs), I dropped my daughter off at her daycare, only to be met by a man dressed in a security uniform outside of the Jewish daycare center. I didn’t know if the center received anti-Semitic threats from extremists and the hate groups that have been emboldened by Perry, or whether they had intel on a regular run-of-the mill mass shooting, which Scott Perry refuses to do anything about.
I remember feeling so relieved that this center, whose job it is to nurture young children, was prepared to handle anti-Semites and mass shooters - what a terrible thing in which to find relief!
My disappointment didn’t stop there that day. I went to my all-day CLE and during breaks, younger lawyers, like me, were scrambling to manage childcare. One attorney was splitting the day with his wife so he could take some credits and she could work, and they were trying to figure things out on a minute by minute basis. Affordable childcare is sparse in Central PA, leaving working families in the lurch again and again.
What has Scott Perry done to help working families needing childcare? Nothing. I imagine Perry doesn’t care about this problem because, as he is fond of reminding us, since he doesn’t plan to have any more kids, he just doesn’t care. So as we learn more and more about the ways in which the dangerous Stooges that support Trump were involved in one of America’s darkest moments, we can’t forget that he has a responsibility to serve his constituents as well.
Central Pennsylvania deserves better and we can only get better by electing candidates who understand what better means.
