Friend, emergencies can strike at any moment. When Storm Daniel made landfall in northeastern Libya last week, causing severe rains and flooding that swept away entire villages, Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) mobilized emergency teams to assess needs in this region. Our teams arrived on September 13 with supplies to donate on arrival, including 400 mortuary bags, 200 medical kits, and casualty care kits for 250 patients. We are working closely with the Ministry of Health and other aid organizations to determine how we can best support them. Around the world, MSF is responding to urgent humanitarian crises. And supporters like you allow us to deliver vital aid to places where it’s needed most.
Recurring gifts from supporters like you power our work long after a crisis has faded from the headlines—such as our continued response in Syria, six months since the country was struck by catastrophic earthquakes, and our ongoing programs to strengthen local health care systems. Monthly donors, also known as Field Partners, allow us to stay for the long haul, because we know that there is no quick fix when it comes to making medical care accessible for all.
Monthly gifts made before 11:59 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, September 26, will be doubled for the first six months up to $200,000. Every dollar you give monthly will be matched with $1. Monthly gifts received after the match has been met will not be matched but will be used where needed most.
This email was sent from the U.S. section of Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), an international independent medical humanitarian organization that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural and man-made disasters, and exclusion from health care.
