I wanted to tell you a bit about myself as I run for President.
I'm the proud daughter of legal immigrants. We were the only Indian family in our small, rural southern town. My dad wore a turban. He still does to this day. My mom wore a sari. Nobody knew who we were, what we were, or why we were there. I was a brown girl in a black-and-white world. Not every day was great. But every day was better than the one before.
I started doing the books at my mom's store when I was just 13. After graduating from Clemson with an accounting degree and working in the corporate world, went back to my mom's store. I saw how hard it was to make a dollar and how easy it was for the government to take it away. My mom told me: "Don't complain. Do something about it." So I did. I ran for the state legislature against a 30-year incumbent. It wasn't easy. But together, we won.
Then, I ran for governor. I was the underdog. But together, we won. We cut taxes, created thousands of jobs, and revitalized our economy.
I served our country at the United Nations. I told the world that America would have the backs of our allies, and for those who did not have our backs, we were taking names!
I'm a proud military wife, a conservative, and a mom. I'm a runner and an unabashed Clemson Tigers fan. And now, I am running to be your next President.
