The Virginia Center for Investigative Journalism released a troubling report on the amount of dark money being poured into GOP campaigns for the General Assembly.

According to the article, outside spending is heavily favoring Republicans – in fact, more than $1.4 million has been spent in an effort to elect GOP candidates. That’s millions of dollars disbursed to bolster Republican campaign ads, phone banks, mailers, canvassing, and more.

Can you rush a donation of $5 to help Senator Warner show the GOP that Democrats have the grassroots support that we need to overtake their wave of dark money and turn Virginia blue?

But that’s not even the worst news. The largest dark money spender was a nonprofit that is renowned for its work to stop action on climate change, cut social programs like food assistance and childcare support, and give tax breaks to the wealthiest few. And they’re shoveling money over to GOP candidates who undoubtedly support these dangerous policies.

The reality of the situation is, as Election Day inches closer and closer, we’re only going to see more of this dark money flood into the state in support of Republican candidates.
