Hi John,

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration reported in their summary of the impacts of climate change in New York that the sea levels have risen significantly more here than globally. On top of that, our annual temperatures have increased and heavy rain events occur more frequently.

Climate change is taking a toll on Long Island, but rather than take action to mitigate the crisis, my opponent Lee Zeldin has gone as far as to support a resolution that prohibits federal agencies from considering the effects of climate change when reviewing new regulations.

As a scientist, I find Zeldin’s willingness to ignore the facts and implications of climate change jarring.

Zeldin has fallen in line with the farthest right in his party, but NY-01 is growing increasingly more Democratic, and Trump’s approval rating here is underwater.

We have a real chance to win back this seat this November, but we’ll need a coordinated paid communication strategy and aggressive field strategy to take on a Trump-backed, corporate PAC-funded incumbent.

Right now, we’re still $3,140 short of our February fundraising goal -- and as we prepare our paid media budget, we cannot afford to fall short.

That’s why I’m asking you to step up with a contribution of $5, $10, $25, $50, or whatever you can to make sure we don’t limit any part of our strategy, with the future of our planet on the line.

With gratitude,

Nancy
