After Donald Trump lost in 2020, extremist Republicans have been plotting to undermine democracy as we know it by pushing the Big Lie.
But today, these fringe views are becoming mainstream: the majority of Republican nominees on the ballot for the U.S. House, Senate and key statewide offices last November — 291 in all — had denied or questioned the outcome of the last presidential election.
While we defeated most of these election-deniers at the secretary of state level, the Big Lie isn’t going anywhere. Donald Trump is the GOP frontrunner and his rhetoric continues to push the party to embrace extremist candidates.
That’s why we need to be ready for the long fight ahead, John.
