NOW: In a desperate attempt to protect his job as Speaker, Kevin McCarthy is walking away from the deal he cut with President Biden as the US barrels toward a government shutdown, all while launching a ridiculous, evidence-less impeachment inquiry. And MAGA Republicans are cheering.
MAGA Republicans are holding our government hostage, putting Americans and our economy at risk, all in an attempt to push their hard right positions and impeach President Biden to help to send Trump back to the White House. Kevin McCarthy is so focused on keeping his job as Speaker that he is giving into their extremist demands.

- Cut Border Security

- Cut 100,000 students from Head Start
- Cut 44% toward wildfire suppression
- Cut cancer research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH)
- And that’s just the beginning
Republicans don’t want to keep the government open. They want to force their absurd, regressive and harmful policies by hurting Americans during a government shutdown.
I won’t stand for it. House Democrats stand ready to work to keep the government open, but only if Republicans start taking this seriously.
