Here's the way I see it: We cannot let a handful of unelected Big Tech billionaires govern our lives and govern our democracy.
The digital revolution has given us amazing new innovations, but it’s come with a real dark side. Big Tech companies have exploited people’s data, invaded Americans’ privacy, and crushed competition without accepting any liability — and Congress is not responding.
So I recently introduced a bipartisan bill to create a Digital Consumer Protection Commission, an agency with the flexibility and the expertise to take on Big Tech giants like Meta, Google, and Amazon.
I was recently interviewed by Vox to talk about this new agency and how it would protect consumers from their abusive business practices (kind of like the CFPB!). Please take a look or bookmark it for your weekend read.
This is no doubt going to be a fight to get this passed, but I believe this is worth fighting hard for. If you agree that Big Tech companies need proper oversight, please pitch in $28 or anything you can so we can continue to fight for this.
