Hey Friend -
Last month, PowerPAC Voter Fund sponsored an independent expenditure effort, United for Monica Montgomery Steppe (United for MMS), in the election to fill the seat left vacant on San Diego Board of Supervisors for District 4. We partnered with long-time ally, Alliance San Diego Mobilization Fund (ASDMF), to conduct research, field, and communications operations in support of Monica Montgomery Steppe.
Our goal was to ensure awareness and mobilization, focusing on infrequent progressive voters, to boost turnout. United for MMS ran a 6-week campaign to educate voters, identify supporters and drive turnout with BIPOC, low-income, progressive and immigrant voters in the district. ASDMF was contracted to provide all field services and PowerPAC Voter Fund conducted all communications and research operations.

With your help and support, we boosted voter participation and support for Monica Montgomery Steppe across the district. Highlights: - With 96,621 votes cast, voter turnout came in at 24.5%. Higher than anyone expected for a midsummer election and our work had much to do with that!
-
Our candidate garnered 41.7% of the vote, far ahead of the nearest competitor with 28.8% (Reichart-R) and the other Dem in the race at 24.8% (Goldbeck).
With an internal poll and voter analysis to effectively target mid to low propensity voters, United for MMS was able to: - Distribute over 24,000 pieces of literature throughout the district.
- Attempt 20,000 door knocks and/or phone calls
- Reach out to 3,188 contacts
- Distribute mail to 60,000 households (88,000 voters)
- Advertise on social media with the results of over 920,000 impressions
- Send over 150,000 sms messages in the last week
None of this would be possible without your support. Thank you for your continued support of our work. Look out for more race recaps from our team! Best wishes,
Christopher Wilson Vice President of Operations, PowerPAC/PowerPAC+ |

PowerPAC is a social justice organization that strategically directs financial and human resources to local and state organizations working to deliver wins in legislative fights, ballot initiatives, and more. For years the money we've raised has, dollar for dollar, been given back to the communities we work with. We've made sure that your investments were being used to build power for our communities because too often we are underrepresented and ignored.
