Friend,
In a desperate move to cling to his feeble speakership and curry favor with Donald Trump, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy recently announced that the GOP will launch a new impeachment inquiry aimed at President Biden.
Impeachment is a serious constitutional power vested with Congress, and it should only be used when there are beyond clear examples of wrongdoing. This was the case with both instances of impeaching Donald Trump – first, when he clearly abused his power and threatened to withhold vital assistance from Ukraine unless Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy agreed to dig up dirt on then-candidate Joe Biden; and second, after he spread the Big Lie about the 2020 election, culminating in a violent insurrection on Jan. 6, 2021.
Let’s be blunt here, friend: Republicans have zero real evidence of any wrongdoing on President Biden’s part. This is nothing but a political stunt. McCarthy knows this, but he’s so afraid of losing the speaker’s gavel to extremists and Trump acolytes like Marjorie Taylor Greene and Matt Gaetz, he will do anything they demand. And what the MAGA crowd wants most is to try to damage President Biden’s re-election prospects.
