We won our fight to put the Tenants’ Bill of Rights for Broward County residents on the books last year. We spoke out and showed up during the Commission sessions, where members told their stories about abusive landlords, unaffordable housing, and the urgent need for rent control.
We can make it happen again today, showing up and speaking out in front of the Board of Commissioners supporting Item #1. We are asking for a $2.7M budget allocation to increase tenants’ access to legal representation when faced with eviction.
An opportunity to support Broward County residents is happening today at 5 PM ET. This is a new opportunity to demonstrate to elected officials that real people are suffering an escalating housing crisis. We urgently need to keep families stably housed, guaranteeing legal representation for renters facing eviction. This is a highly effective means of keeping renters in their homes and benefits whole communities by preventing homelessness.
