What's new young dems?

Welcome our new leaders:

Hi Fellow Young Democrat,

We are excited to welcome new leaders in our caucus! Recently, the executive committee appointed Dayna Colbert as the 5th Congressional District Chair and Zach Shartiag as the 4th Congressional District Chair.

If you live in either of these districts, reach out to Dayna or Zach to learn how to get involved.

Zach Shartiag, Tippecanoe County Young Dems

Zach Shartiag is currently a resident of West Lafayette, IN and works as an operations manager at a property company. Previously, he worked for four years at the Jewish education non profit StandWithUs as their New England Campus Director and interim Mid Atlantic Director. While at StandWithUs, Zach organized students and helped develop new strategies for progressive outreach, combating anti-semitism, and fighting white supremacy. Outside of the Jewish non profit world, he is the Young Democrats of America (YDA) Deputy Secretary and the YDA Jewish Caucus Political Director. In his free time, Zach enjoys eating burritos and continually being disappointed by the Chicago Bears.

Dayna Colbert, Hamilton County Young Democrats

Dayna Colbert, current President of the Hamilton County Young Democrats (HCYD), has always had an interest in politics. Inspired to get more involved in the wake of the 2016 Presidential election, Colbert joined Spark Progressive Co-Op (previously Indiana Women’s Political Caucus) as their Communications Chair. She simultaneously discovered HCYD, became one of its first members, and after two months was elected (and remains) President.

Colbert left her career as a Project Manager to fully commit to electing Democrats by working for the Indiana Coordinated Campaign in 2018 as a Regional Field Director. While on the Coordinated Campaign, she ran for Delaware Township Board and was somehow able to find time to campaign for herself in the midst of everything else.

Outside of politics, Colbert enjoys spending time with her rescue dog, Brutus, cosplaying at Indiana Comic Con, and watching The Good Place. And recruiting her friends to get more involved!

This summer, the state party is planning to expand their program and hire four interns, but they need to raise $6,000 to cover their pay. Consider giving today to help reach their goal and help a fellow young Democrat.
