Hi John,
Tomorrow is Rare Disease Awareness Day. Did you know that 50% of patients diagnosed with a rare disease are children? My son was one of them.
At just 2 weeks old, Colton was diagnosed with a rare genetic bleeding disorder, then with Leukemia at 16 months old. It wasn’t easy. We were strained emotionally, physically, financially - in just about every way you can imagine. I started to realize how little resources there are for families like mine, even though rare diseases impact more people than cancer and AIDS combined.
That’s why I decided to get involved to fight and advocate for families like mine that lack the support they need and deserve.
As your State Rep., I worked across the aisle to create the Rare Disease Advisory Council and when it came to a vote, it passed the House unanimously. Earlier this month, I was awarded the National Organization for Rare Disorders’ (NORD) 2020 Rare Impact Award for the work I’ve done to advocate for patients and families of those with a rare disease.
Families like ours need a voice in Columbus, and I need your help so I can continue being that voice.
This Rare Disease Awareness Day, I’m asking for your support for my re-election in November.
Will you make a contribution to my re-election campaign today?
With your support, I will continue fighting for these important issues at the Statehouse.
Thank you,
Randi
