#SolidaritySeason

Tuesday, September 19

John,

The historic United Auto Workers strike on the Big Three (Ford, General Motors, and Stellantis) continues to capture a groundswell of community support and solidarity. Since September 14, about 13,000 of 146,000 UAW auto workers have joined picket lines in Ohio, Missouri, and Michigan. Politicians like President Biden and Senator Bernie Sanders are echoing the demand that record profits should mean record contracts. Even more elected officials are road tripping to join picket lines. And hundreds of community supporters are showing up to lead caravans and dance in joyous rebellion.

Spirits are high as the nation makes it clear: we support UAW in the fight for fair contracts!

As negotiations continue to progress slowly, catch up on the latest news and ways to stand in solidarity with auto workers and more.

In Solidarity,

URGENT: 1,100 UAW members at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan strike

1,100 Blue Cross Blue Shield UAW workers in Michigan walked out on Wednesday, September 13. UAW Locals 1781, 2145, 2256 and 2500 along with Regions 1, 1A, 1D are asking for your support in the fight for a fair contract. BCBSM has refused to accept members’ demands and is outsourcing their work to third parties, weakening their collective bargaining power.

TAKE ACTION: contact BCBSM via the list below. Request to speak with a UAW CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE IMMEDIATELY. Tell the company you don’t approve of outsourcing work, their unfair wages, and their refusal to provide all UAW employees with Retiree Healthcare. Tell the company you support BCBSM UAW members!
