Exciting news: Unite America Democracy Fellow and Syracuse Professor Richard Barton is starring in an interactive discussion this Thursday, September 21, at 2 PM EST hosted by our partners at Open Primaries. The event will focus on Dr. Barton’s research into the benefits of California’s top-two nonpartisan primary system, which the Unite America Institute released earlier this year. |
Dr. Barton's groundbreaking new report finds that California’s nonpartisan primary system is delivering on its promises of better politics and governance. Since it was passed, it has dampened polarization, increased meaningful voter participation, and bolstered electoral competition. Barton published similar research last year looking at Louisiana, which abolished partisan primaries in the 1970s. Join the discussion to learn more about how California’s system puts voters first. There will also be an audience Q&A session, so come with questions if you have them! Register today! We're looking forward to seeing you there, Ross Sherman Press Director, Unite America |
