Managing Water and Farmland Transitions in the San Joaquin Valley

How can the San Joaquin Valley adapt to a future with less water? We’ve been researching this issue for the past seven years, and our new report presents highlights from what we’ve learned, including a robust list of policy suggestions to help the valley weather—and make the most of—the coming changes.

The research was supported with funding from the Babbitt Center for Land and Water Policy at the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy, the S. D. Bechtel, Jr. Foundation, the California Department of Food and Agriculture, the Secure Water Future grant from the United States Department of Agriculture, and the California Strategic Growth Council’s Climate Change Research Program with funds from California Climate Investments.
