Happy National Voter Registration Day! 🎉🎉🎉
You may not know this about me, but before I became U.S. Senator for California, I served as California’s Secretary of State.
It’s an old photo, but you can still go to RegisterToVote.ca.gov
In most states, including California, that’s the person responsible for running free and fair elections — ensuring that everyone who’s eligible to vote gets to exercise that constitutional right to make their voice heard and participate in our democracy.
It’s an important job, and one I was proud to do for the people of California. We made elections more accessible, established automatic and same-day voter registration, and expanded mail-in and in-person voting.
We did that because I believe, and I hope you do too, that our democracy is only at its strongest when everyone — no matter what zip code they live in or the color of their skin — is able to make their voice heard and play a part in shaping our collective future.
So today, I’m asking you to register to vote. You can use the link from my sign above (RegisterToVote.ca.gov). Or if you’re already registered, find a friend or family member who isn’t, and get them registered to vote.
Thank you for reading, and for making sure you’re registered to vote!
