Public transport helps ease traffic disruption ? and City Council asks Highways England to do more

The closure of the A52 at Clifton Bridge for Highways England work is funnelling an extra 15,000 southbound vehicles a day over Nottingham?s remaining two bridges, latest figures show.

The incident has also led to a rise in the number of people opting to use the tram ? with a 21% increase in journeys from the Park & Ride sites at Clifton and Toton.

Trent Bridge essential maintenance work starts next week ? overnight lane closures only

Maintenance work is due to get underway on another of Nottingham?s bridges ? but the good news is that it?s not expected to have any significant effect on traffic.

Nottingham?s iconic Trent Bridge will undergo full maintenance painting this spring and summer, starting on Monday 2^nd?March.?

The City Council is looking at the need for roadworks to proceed around the city on a case-by-case basis while Highways England continues to carry out repairs to Clifton Bridge for the rest of the year.

The council initially suspended all but emergency works as part of a range of measures to ease pressure on the city?s road network.?

The plan is to create spiral of oak trees running from Nottingham Castle all the way to the heart of Sherwood Forest and The Major Oak.?

Councillor praises emergency response to incident at city tower block

A Nottingham City councillor has thanked emergency services for their reaction to an incident earlier today in Sneinton.

Police were called to Manvers Court, in Manvers Street, this morning after reports of a suspicious package on the ground. The Nottingham City Homes-managed block was temporarily evacuated while a controlled explosion was carried out.?

The hugely popular Spiegeltent will be returning to the city this April with the opening few days being announced and going on sale from Friday?21 February 2020.?The attraction, which has been visiting the city since 2015,?will be staged in Old Market Square between Wednesday 29 April and Sunday 17 May?2020.
