Live virtual museum experiences bring fun and enriching content to your classrooms to enhance your students’ learning experience. Interact in real time with our museum educators as they explore popular topics from constitutional history!

Scholar Exchanges

Scholar Exchanges give students the opportunity to discuss constitutional topics with a lawyer, judge, or constitutional scholar and their peers from around the country. Open to students ranging from elementary school to college level, sessions are free and are scheduled at times that work for you and your classroom.

Civic Stories: Battles of the Branches

Wednesday, September 20 | Noon ET

Experience a crash course on the U.S. government and learn the importance of checks and balances and the responsibilities of each branch of government. Then, assume the powers of the presidency, Congress, and the judiciary and work together to pass a law!

Civic Stories: Constitution Trivia

Thursday, September 21 | Noon ET

Students are invited to test their constitutional knowledge during our interactive game of Constitution trivia. We’ll take a look at the Constitutional Convention, famous figures, and the amendments.

Live from the Museum: The First Amendment

Friday, September 22 | Noon ET

Join Elena Popchock, manager of exhibit content, for a virtual tour of the National Constitution Center’s newest gallery, The First Amendment. Elena will share her experiences creating the exhibit, share some of her favorite artifacts and exhibit elements, and answer student questions.

Live from the Museum: Signers' Hall

Tuesday, September 26 | Noon ET

Virtual audiences can join a National Constitution Center museum educator for a tour of Signers’ Hall, the iconic exhibit featuring life-size statues of the 42 men who gathered in Philadelphia for the signing of the Constitution on September 17, 1787.

Federal Judges Association Civics Challenge

Deadline: December 31, 2023



In celebration of Constitution Day, the Federal Judges Association (FJA) created an annual Civics Challenge offered to high-school students across the country.

Participating classes will have the opportunity to take the same civics test given to individuals seeking U.S. citizenship. Students who score 90% or higher on the civics test, as determined by the participating high school teacher, will have the opportunity to attend a federal court naturalization ceremony in their home judicial district in 2024 before a federal judge.

The Civics Test must be given, graded, and results submitted by the participating high school teacher to FJA Coordinator Susan DeCourcey ([email protected]) by no later than December 31, 2023. Learn more about the Civics Challenge.

PA Civics Presents: The State of Civic Education in Pennsylvania

Wednesday, September 20 | 4–5:30 p.m. ET

Join Pennsylvania Secretary of Education, Dr. Khalid Mumin and the PA Civics Coalition for a conversation about the state of civic education in Pennsylvania. Education leaders will discuss the National Assessment of Educational Progress report and Act 35, spotlight civic learning in the classroom and community, and identify solutions to bolster civic education across the commonwealth.  

The PA Civics Coalition is a statewide, bipartisan coalition formed in 2019 consisting of former public officials and nonprofit, nonpartisan organizations from across the state interested in the promotion and expansion of civics education in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. 

Exploring the Center's Education Framework: Teaching Stories Through Dialogue

Wednesday, September 20 | 6:30–8 p.m. ET

In this session, participants will examine the National Constitution Center’s framework for learning, which integrates three main components: Historical Foundations Through Storytelling; Constitutional Interpretation Skills; and Civil Dialogue and Reflection. This approach teaches learners of all ages to separate their political views from their constitutional views—asking not what the government should do, but what it constitutionally may do. Participants will explore all aspects of the framework by exploring the Center’s newest exhibit, The First Amendment.

Artifact Spotlight

First Amendment Artifact

Throughout September, we're highlighting First Amendment artifacts in celebration of our newest gallery, The First Amendment.

This newspaper advocated for peace and emancipation in the slaveholding state of Kentucky. Its founder, John Champion Vaughan, previously worked as assistant editor of another Kentucky newspaper whose printing office was burned in 1845. Before the Civil War, anti-slavery publications were often targeted, particularly in the South.

The National Constitution Center’s 2023-2024 Civic Calendar is available now! This year’s calendar explores the Civil Rights Movement.

Each month features beautifully designed informational graphics highlighting key events and people from the movement, like Martin Luther King Jr., Thurgood Marshall, Ella Baker, Rosa Parks, John Lewis, and others. We’ll cover significant legislation and landmark Supreme Court decisions, all leading up to the 60th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 in July. 

In addition to historic birthdays, anniversaries, and constitutional trivia, the calendar also includes the latest information on the Center’s 2023-2024 programs to help you plan your full year of constitutional learning.
