Friend,
The Supreme Court just ruled to undermine the very foundation of our representative democracy.
This morning extreme conservatives on the Court opened the floodgates for partisan gerrymandering — a process where politicians draw voting district maps that make it easier for their party to win more seats.
It's the opposite of how our representative democracy should work. Voters should pick their elected officials, not the other way around.
That's why several states have nonpartisan, independent redistricting commissions. And if we want to undo the real damage the Supreme Court did today, we need this to be a national policy.
If you think we need a national law that undoes this disastrous decision and mandates all districts be drawn by nonpartisan redistricting commissions, add your name.
For too long, Republican politicians have used their power as elected officials to entrench themselves against the will of the voters.
Our national politics is broken because of it, and Joni Ernst is doing nothing about it.
We need to act and protect our democracy — regardless of party.
Add your name if you believe we need independent redistricting commissions, not politicians, drawing our voting maps.
