Working Families Party

We have big news out of Pennsylvania, John:

Newspaper clipping that reads: The Inquirer. Democratic Sen. John Fetterman backs third-party progressives for Philly Council

Today, Democratic U.S. Senator John Fetterman announced his endorsement of WFP's Kendra Brooks and Nicolas O’Rourke in Philadelphia’s City Council race.

He told Philly Mag, “I’m proud to support this slate and join the big coalition they are building. As Senator, I want partners in government in Philadelphia and throughout our commonwealth who are champions in putting working families over billionaires and corporate donors.”1

We need to make sure that come November, we elect Kendra and Nicolas and make the Working Families Party the dominant minority party in Philadelphia, instead of the Republican Party who is fighting progress everywhere you look.

Will you split a contribution between Kendra and Nicolas’ campaigns today?

Fetterman’s endorsement is downright historic, John. It’s not everyday that we see prominent elected officials line up behind third-party candidates like Kendra and Nicolas.

But across the board, Pennsylvania Democrats — including Governor Josh Shapiro who endorsed Kendra earlier this month — are backing them, defying requests by party leadership to do otherwise, and even risking expulsion, because they see the bigger political picture.

If Kendra and Nicolas win the two at-large seats designated for a minority party in Philadelphia’s City Council, not only would they erode Republican influence in the city — they would lay the groundwork for third-party progressive insurgents in other major cities across the country to do the same.

That’s why this is one of the most closely watched races this fall, and it’s why some of the biggest fighters for working people are all hopping on Kendra and Nicolas’ train of supporters.

With just 50 days left until the General Election, we need you on board too. Can you split a donation between Kendra Brooks’ and Nicolas O’Rourke’s campaigns to make sure every voter in Philadelphia knows why U.S. Senator John Fetterman and Pennsylvania’s most prominent Democratic leaders are all-in to elect them?

Your support will help us build the large-scale grassroots movement needed to cover the costs of canvassing, texting, phonebanking, and all of the organizing that’s needed to reach voters across Philadelphia and win this election.
