Dear John,

My name is Bishop E. René Soulé, I am the campaign manager for Britt Gondolfi.

Britt has emailed you a few times to tell you about why she is running for office along with what is at stake here in Louisiana. Today I am writing to take a moment and tell you about why I am supporting Britt.

I’ve worked in politics for nearly my whole life - one of the first jobs I worked after graduating from college was as a senior auditor at the Federal Election Commission from 1979 to 1987. In this role I worked hand in hand with Congressional, Senate, and Presidential campaigns like the Jimmy Carter and Jesse Jackson presidential campaigns, and got to glimpse behind the facade and see what really drives our political system.

After leaving the FEC, I spent the next few decades in the private sector, however I was pulled back into the game when I moved to Louisiana and saw the bone crushing poverty and disregard from their elected officials that working Louisanans have to deal with everyday.

Since 2014 I have managed dozens of congressional, state, and local campaigns across the state of Louisiana.

Myself and Louisiana’s Democratic Governor John Bel Edwards on the campaign trail.

I am incredibly selective of my candidates and these clients almost exclusively come to me through word of mouth; they reach out to me, I don’t reach out to them.

However, when I saw that a woman named Britt from the town I call home, Hammond, Louisiana, was taking on the extreme right-wing MAGA State Senator who represents our area, I was beyond intrigued and knew I had to meet her.

I reached out to some friends who knew her and were involved with her campaign and scheduled a meet. When we met I was pleased to find a sincere, grounded, working mom who cares deeply about her community and her state.

What impressed me the most was that she had moved back to Hammond after living out of state - Atlanta - where she worked on the front lines of a woman’s clinic. She could have stayed where she was and probably done a lot better financially, but because she cares so deeply about our community she moved back.

I told her right then and there that I wanted to work for her campaign and help her make a difference - I have been managing her campaign ever since.

Over the last few years I have seen a divisiveness enter our state that was not here before. In Louisiana we eat, we drink, we party, and we get along. No one ever used to talk about the LGBTQ community, transgender people, or women and their right to make decisions about their bodies, with hatred and vitriol or discuss infringing upon their rights

But now because of the role of divisive national politics trickling down to our state I hear people, including Britt’s opponent Senator Beth Mizell, preaching hatred and non-acceptance towards these communities who are just as Louisianan as they are.

Being patriotic also used to mean something here in Louisiana yet Beth Mizell thinks those who participated in the January 6th insurrection should not be prosecuted and went so far as to send out a letter to the Department of Justice advocating for just that.

I support Britt because she embodies what it means to truly be a Lousianan - accepting of everyone and willing to fight for all of her constituents.

A postcard for Britt made by my colleagues on the campaign. Your support will help us ensure every eligible voter in our district receives one of these.

There is a lot at stake in our fight, most importantly the fact that the majority of Louisianans believe that abortion should be a woman’s decision and our campaign is on the front line of this. Britt’s opponent is vehemently opposed to giving women a say in matters of reproductive healthcare and if we can defeat her we will be planting a flag for abortion rights here in the deep south.

So John can I count on you to make a donation of $10 whatever you can spare to help elect Britt and earn a major win for Democrats here in the deep south?

If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:

Thank you in advance for your support. If you ever have any questions about how the race is going or how you can get involved please do not hesitate to reach out to me or Britt at our emails below: [email protected] and [email protected]

Thank you,

Bishop E. Rene' Soulé
