Home-Based Medical Care Use In Medicare

In their article in the September issue of Health Affairs, Jeffrey Marr
and coauthors compare home-based medical care utilization in Medicare
Advantage (MA) and traditional Medicare
.

As the article notes, millions of Medicare beneficiaries are homebound

provide this population with accessible forms of care, take-up is low.

Marr and coauthors find that MA beneficiaries were nearly 24 percent
less likely to receive multiple home-based medical care visits than
traditional Medicare beneficiaries, but "MA beneficiaries were far more
likely than traditional Medicare beneficiaries to have had exactly one
home-based medical care visit during the year 2018."
