Ben Ray Luján was born and raised on a small family farm in Nambé, New Mexico, by a union ironworker and a public school employee. From a young age, he learned the value of hard work and also formed a deep love for his state – and when he's not in the Capitol, he lives in Nambé working on the family farm.

Ben Ray has dedicated his entire career to improving the lives of working families like his own. In 2020, he campaigned on increasing access to good-paying jobs, expanding access to quality health care and fighting for equal rights – and he did that all without taking a single dollar from a corporate PAC.

In 2021 he was officially sworn into the Senate after years in the House of Representatives – and Ben Ray has wasted absolutely no time fighting for the issues that matter most. From LGBTQ+ rights to campaign finance reform to the fight to end the opioid epidemic, Ben Ray has spent countless late nights working to push the needle for progress forward.
