Governor Whitmer Makes Appointments to Boards and Commissions?

LANSING, Mich. ? Today, Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced the following appointments to the Michigan Board of Accountancy, Michigan Board of Acupuncture, and the Michigan Onion Committee.??

?

Today?s appointees represent Michigan?s young professionals, communities of color, seniors, and more. The appointees announced this week build on Governor Whitmer?s work to ensure appointees reflect Michigan?s diverse population. Sixty percent of appointees are women or people of color, and the Whitmer cabinet is the most diverse in Michigan history.?

Michigan Board of Accountancy?

Teressa Keena, of Detroit, is a licensed accountant and shareholder at Hungerford Nichols CPAs and Advisors. She has also worked as a senior manager and senior consultant within the firm. Ms. Keena is a member of the Michigan Board of Accountancy, as well as the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Ms. Keena received her associate degree in accounting from Cornerstone University and her Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting from Grand Valley State University. Ms. Keena is reappointed to represent certified public accountants for a term commencing September 18, 2023, and expiring June 30, 2027.???

Eulonda Whitmore, of Ada, is an associate vice president and chief audit executive at Wayne State University. She is a current member of the Michigan Board of Accountancy and board member for the Association of College and University Auditors. Ms. Whitmore received her Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from Michigan State University and her Master of Business Administration from Wayne State University. Ms. Whitmore is reappointed to represent the general public, for a term commencing September 18, 2023, and expiring June 30, 2027.???

The Michigan State Board of Accountancy is responsible for the certification, licensure, and regulation of certified public accountants and public accounting firms in Michigan.?????

Michigan Board of Acupuncture?

Ryan Mehmandoost-Gauthier, DAOM, of Dearborn, is an acupuncturist at the Henry Ford Health System for Integrative Medicine. He received his Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Master of Science in Oriental Medicine from the Midwest College of Oriental Medicine. Additionally, he received his Doctorate in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine. Dr. Mehmandoost-Gauthier is reappointed to represent acupuncturists for a term commencing September 18, 2023, and expiring June 30, 2027.??

Caitlin Bonk, of Royal Oak, a licensed acupuncturist at Gray Chiropractic and Wellness Center. She earned her Bachelor of Professional Health Sciences and Master of Science in Oriental Medicine from East West College of Natural Medicine. Ms. Bonk is reappointed to represent acupuncturists for a term commencing September 18, 2023, and expiring June 30, 2027.????

Carlota Almanza-Lumpkin, of West Bloomfield, is the production manager for WTVS / Detroit Public Television. She has also served as production manager for multiple PBS program series, including ?Neal Shine?s Detroit? and ?Detroit Black Journal?. Ms. Almanza-Lumpkin received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Biology from the University of Michigan Ann Arbor. Ms. Alamanza-Lumpkin is appointed to represent the general public, for a term commencing September 18, 2023, and expiring June 30, 2026. She succeeds Jonell Underwood whose term has expired.??

Kristen Hall is a global account manager at BASF, a producer of automotive batteries, construction materials, and petrochemicals. She also spent 5 years at Talmer Bank & Trust becoming a proficient project manager. She received her Bachelor of Arts in public policy from Michigan State University and her Master of Business Administration from Oakland University. Ms. Hall is reappointed to represent the general public, for a term commencing September 18, 2023, and expiring June 30, 2027.??

The Michigan Board of Acupuncture works with the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs to oversee the practice of approximately 89 acupuncturists.? The Board has the obligation to take disciplinary action against registrants who have adversely affected the public's health, safety, and welfare.????

Michigan Onion Committee?

Michael Bosch, of Hamilton, is a co-owner of Eding Brothers Celery Farm and grows 60 acres of onions. He also serves as a firefighter and EMT with the Hamilton Fire Department. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education and Mathematics from Grand Valley State University. Mr. Bosch is reappointed to represent growers-at-large commencing September 18, 2023, and expiring August 16, 2026.?

Bruce Klamer, of Byron Center, has served as the president at V & W farms since 1981. He is a graduate of Hope College and has served as chairman of the Onion Committee since 1995. Mr.? Klamer is reappointed to represent growers-at-large for a term commencing September 18, 2023, and expiring August 16, 2026.?

The Michigan Onion Committee seeks to promote the production and consumption of onions grown in Michigan as well as to assist in the agricultural research and development of onion farming.?
