Hi John,
Today we launch the first ever Disabled & Deaf Trans People’s Survey (DTPS)!
Ableism is woven into our everyday systems yet the knowledge of disabled and Deaf trans people has often been overlooked in research, leadership development, and philanthropy. Collecting stories and data will create opportunities for our leadership and momentum to tell our collective story and fight for our rights and needs.
The DTPS is a survey created by and for disabled and Deaf trans people. This survey gives disabled and Deaf trans people a tool to advocate for ourselves, to organize, and to transform movement spaces.

It was truly delightful, a few months ago, to take a break from the production to-do lists and talk to Ciarra Ross, a writer, educator, doula, and holistic health practitioner. Ericka and Sebastian interviewed Ciarra about her movement work inside and outside Disability Justice. She reflected on the importance of the survey, saying, “There’s a lot less room to deny your own experience when you have so many other people’s experiences at your fingertips. I think that surveys really offer the opportunity for you to get really intimate with your own story.”
We consulted many community members to help prioritize accessibility and to ensure that this survey is relevant to disabled and Deaf communities and our lives. We can’t wait to hear your stories! Thank you for taking a moment to participate in this first of a kind survey at [link removed] and pass on the word.
With gratitude,
Ericka A. Dixon, Disability Project Senior National Organizer
Sebastian Margaret, Disability Project Senior National Organizer
Ma'ayan Anafi, Community Advisory Board Member
