John,

There’s no sugar-coating how depressing Friday’s news was for Texas Democrats. Despite overwhelming evidence of corruption and abuse of power, the Texas Senate acquitted Ken Paxton of all charges. He will now return to power as the state’s top law enforcement official.

As an organization committed to statewide political change, Ground Game Texas takes this news very seriously. But we want you to know, we are not discouraged. The result only makes our path more clear.

Paxton was acquitted by his Republican colleagues because they are not accountable to the people. Our corrupt Attorney General won his last election with 4,278,986 votes out of a total electorate of 16,954,183 — only 25% of Texas voters.

Democrats can win statewide without convincing a single one of these Paxton supporters. Although some members of our caucus remember a time when the Texas GOP had “reasonable” and “sensible” leaders, that day is long gone. Our job is to defeat the Republican minority controlling state politics, not negotiate with them.

Ground Game Texas is working year-round, city-by-city, campaign-by-campaign to engage voters in the democratic process. We won’t give up, but we need your support. Donate today to show the Texas GOP we won’t submit to their corrupt agenda. [[link removed]]

Nearly three-quarters of Texans did not vote for Ken Paxton. We know that voter suppression has a lot to do with this — whether it’s formal legal obstacles or a variety of other tactics, Texas makes it hard to vote. Regardless of the challenges, however, we need to motivate non-voters. Give them a reason to go to the polls. Give them a message that inspires action for political change.

Our city campaigns focus on “Workers, Wages & Weed” issues — popular policies that are proven to turn out more voters from key Democratic constituencies. We plan to make big waves in 2024 but need your help. Please donate $25 or more today. [[link removed]]

Last week’s result was a blow, but it reinforces our commitment to focus on the fundamentals: talking to voters year-round about issues that motivate them to participate.

Continuing the struggle,
