ACLU Supporter – as students across the country head back to school, millions of them will be faced with a harsh reality: censored curriculums and lists of books they are banned from reading. This is happening everywhere:
But here at the ACLU, we firmly believe – and know – that all students have a First Amendment right to education free of discrimination and censorship. We're not new to these attacks, either. We've led the fight for the right to learn and read since we successfully lifted a nationwide ban on James Joyce's Ulysses in 1933. And today, we're still fighting back – striking down Florida's "Stop WOKE Act," protecting Missouri students from the state's unconstitutional book ban law, speaking up for affirmative action, and much more. Simply put: Book bans and school censorship are wrong, period. But to continue fighting against the latest wave of school censorship, we need your support. That's why we've set a goal to have 1,330 donors support our work by Friday to help fight back against school censorship and protect students' First Amendment rights. ACLU Supporter, can we count on you to donate generously today? Thanks for believing in this work, ACLU |
