ESG & House Speaker Charles McCall | Ryan Walters in Washington D.C. Published Monday, September 18, 2023 AT THE HISTORY CENTER THIS WEDNESDAY CHARLES McCALL OKLAHOMA SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE Oklahoma’s Speaker of the House, Charles McCall, will address the topic of Environmental Social Governance (ESG), the woke agenda being forced upon the American public through economic forces. When Presidential candidate, Vivek Ramaswamy, spoke of the key to soft totalitarianism in America, he spoke of corporate America. In a recent tweet, he said: Once big business embraced wokeness, it was game over. Quite a few legislative proposals designed to curtail the impact of ESG in Oklahoma, both the House and in Senate, never saw the light of day in the 2023 legislative session. Catoosa House member, Terry O’Donnell, managed to get his bill (HB 2547, protecting Oklahoma from ESG initiatives) heard and passed on the House floor. It was killed in the Senate and never made it to the Governor’s desk. The challenge to get commonsense ESG legislation passed in legislatures anywhere in America is among the reasons author Rod Dreher stated this: Big business is a bigger threat [to freedom] than government. The Oklahoma legislature’s inability to apply simple solutions to this existential threat is not the only frustration politically savvy Oklahomans have. Numerous bills designed to prohibit men from participating in women’s sports were terminated in the somewhat unseen legislative closets known as committees. What makes the ESG issue so complex is that progressives who were once hostile to capitalism are now using it as a tool to accomplish through “the market” what they couldn’t do through lawmaking. ~Vivek Ramaswamy From Speaker McCall’s office: "Speaker Charles McCall has been a leading voice pushing back against the inclusion of ESG (environmental, social and corporate governance) policies in Oklahoma. He was featured on the national stage speaking about the dangers of ESG during a CPAC panel, and has introduced legislation in Oklahoma to stop harmful ESG practices from destroying the state’s pension system. "The Leftist assault on business and retirement systems through the inclusion of ESG policies and funds is being largely backed by George Soros and other national liberals. Speaker McCall has been on the forefront pushing back against these policies and making sure Oklahomans are protected from their harmful effects." Watch him interviewed at CPAC here. It is no secret that when candidates for Oklahoma’s next Governor are discussed, Charles McCall, Atoka’s most famous banker, is among those at the top of the list. This Wednesday, former Congressional candidate and OCPAC Foundation Chairman, Wade Burleson, will be on stage to interview Speaker Charles McCall. Wade will lead with questions we have about the ESG threat and will field your questions as well. Come early to submit your questions in writing for the Speaker Plus ... TABLE of CONTENTS BOB LINN Environmental & Social Governance (ESG) in Oklahoma LAST WEEK E'Lena Ashley | Greg Sylva | Ryan Walters MARK YOUR CALENDER State Board of Education September 28, 2023 Meeting BOB LINN Environmental & Social Governance (ESG) in Oklahoma In a tweet, Presidential candidate, Vivek Ramaswamy, pointed out that what the far left has not been able to do through governmental legislation, it is succeeding to get done through the medium of the marketplace of America. They are succeeding through the tyranny of Environmental & Social Governance (ESG) being forced upon America’s corporations and its citizens through the stranglehold of the banks. In 2021, Paul Fitzpatrick founded the 1792 Exchange. Named for the year that the stock exchange was established, the 1792 Exchange was created to preserve freedom of religion, speech, and enterprise by countering “woke capitalism.” The 1792 Exchange develops policies to protect small businesses from “woke” corporations. It educates Congress about the dangers of ESG (environmental, social, and governance) policies. It seeks also to help steer public companies in the United States back to neutral on ideological issues so they can best serve their shareholders and customers with excellence and integrity. Through ESG policies, corporations, harnessed by political actors, are removing fossil fuels from their portfolios. Paul Fitzpatrick stated, “People around the world will starve to death because of ESG regulations. Like many of the left’s failed programs, ESG now has become a bit dirtied and Larry Fink, CEO of BlackRock now uses the term “conscientious capitalism.” Like all other marxist edits to the English dictionary, the meaning is the same. However, terms like “sustainability” and “decarbonization” have retained their meaning and they also remain in the ESG arsenal of terms. Presidential candidate, Vivek Ramaswamy, calls ESG leaders, Blackrock, Vanguard, and State Street “the most powerful cartel in human history,” and condemns their promotion of climate change and racial equity. For Ramaswamy, we have found ourselves at the threshold of another 1776 and as a society, must take a hard look at where we are headed under the woke ESG agenda and its threat to the sovereignty of the United States. The strong-arm tactics of ESG are financial policies originating in the big banks and promoted through major corporate structures. In the end, it targets, with the aid of governmental policy, small business and the family. Last week, Marc Nuttle, advisor to many of the world’s largest governments, pointed out that small business in America employs 50% of the non-farm workforce, produces 50% of the Gross Domestic Product (GNP), and are responsible for the creation of 80% of all new jobs. Nothing like this is seen anywhere else in the world. Yet, Nuttle points out, the “the federal government is implementing regulations that will stifle, if not eliminate, the growth of small businesses.” Mark Continued: We are at a crossroads in the history of America. A cultural, critical decision must be made. Will we build upon the foundations of American society that have facilitated freedom or will we default to the tragic lessons of the past 6,000 years. Prager U puts it in excellent form in this 5-minute video Jane and I flew back from Colorado late last night. We had to miss a meeting with the Governor in order to celebrate the 8th birthday of one of our twelve grandchildren. We know the Governor will be fine. Our grandson would have been crushed had we missed this momentous occasion. For three days, we celebrated his birthday and he was elated. We hope to see you at the luncheon this Wednesday as we interview Speaker of the House, Charles McCall on ESG and the performance of the Oklahoma Legislature in 2023. We are in desperate need of returning our nation and our state to Biblical foundations.
