Dear
John
,

If the BBC loses funding, the shows you love are under threat. Eastenders, Match of the Day, Planet Earth, the Archers - what would you miss if they were gone?

When senior sources at No.10 Downing Street say ‘we’re not bluffing on the licence fee….we’re going to whack it’, their intentions are clear.

Send an email now to No.10 and tell them that the future of our BBC deserves a proper national conversation
Send a message to the Cummings Consultation ([link removed])
Dominic Cummings has it in for the BBC, and he wants to use his 'consultation' as an excuse to cut the BBC's funding, no matter the cost.

The government is playing a dangerous game in trying to undermine the funding model of a nearly 100-year-old public service in a consultation lasting a few short weeks.

The BBC isn't perfect - and you'd be justified in feeling frustrated or angry with it.

But in an era of fake news, it’s a public service vital to the UK and democracy, giving us access to information and our shared culture.

If we do not defend it together, we’ll end up with nothing but Facebook and a Fox News style media, which will damage our democracy and hand yet more power to billionaire moguls.
Stand up for public broadcasting before it's too late ([link removed])
Decriminalising the licence fee won't mean a kinder system of enforcement for our communities. Bailiffs and civil enforcement are not good news.

Cummings is not interested in making the funding system fairer, or in protecting low-income communities from criminalisation.

All he wants to do is cut off the BBC’s source of funding so that it is more vulnerable to competition from billionaire-funded private media corporations.
Tell Cummings you're not buying it ([link removed])
If and when the government wants to have a proper conversation about funding, there are several more progressive options we can consider, including a universal media tax levied per household, or tiering the licence by income.

We need a national conversation, with the intention to create BBC that works for all of our communities for the next 100 years of its existence.

Tell the government that we won't stand for this sham of a consultation:
Take action before it's too late ([link removed])
Thanks for taking action,

In solidarity,
